Istanbul-Sofia-Express öffnet heute

Der Wiederaufbau der Eisenbahnlinie an der Grenze zu Bulgarien zwischen Istanbul und Kapıkule ist bald beendet: Der Zugverkehr zwischen der größten türkischen Stadt Istanbul und der bulgarischen Hauptstadt Sofia wird ab dem 20. Februar beginnen.

Ahmet Arslan, Minister für Transport, Seewesen und Kommunikation, teilte der Nachrichtenagentur Anadolu mit, dass die Dienste nach einem Abkommen zwischen den türkischen Staatsbahnen (TCDD) und den bulgarischen Staatsbahnen (BDZ) wieder aufgenommen werden.

Die 292 Kilometer lange Strecke im nordwestlichen Thrakiengebiet der Türkei wurde mit den im Juni 2014 gestarteten Bauarbeiten komplett erneuert. Seit Anfang der Arbeiten mussten die Passagiere von Kapıkule nach Istanbul mit Bussen transportiert werden.

Die Reisezeit von Istanbul nach Sofia wird etwa 10 Stunden betragen, sagte Arslan.
